As we approach the advent season, it’s time to prepare ourselves and our homes for the celebration of the birth of Christ. One of the most popular ways to do this is by creating an advent wreath. The advent wreath is a circular arrangement of evergreen branches with four candles representing the four weeks of advent. The candles are usually three purple and one pink, with a fifth white “Christ” candle placed in the center which is lit on Christmas Day. As we light the candles each week of advent, we reflect on the four themes of advent: hope, peace, joy, and love. This can be a beautiful way to gather together and focus on the meaning of the advent season.
