Printable Advent Wreath

As we approach the advent season, it’s time to prepare ourselves and our homes for the celebration of the birth of Christ. One of the most popular ways to do this is by creating an advent wreath. The advent wreath is a circular arrangement of evergreen branches with four candles representing the four weeks of advent. The candles are usually three purple and one pink, with a fifth white “Christ” candle placed in the center which is lit on Christmas Day. As we light the candles each week of advent, we reflect on the four themes of advent: hope, peace, joy, and love. One way to incorporate the advent wreath into your family’s celebration is to have each family member take turns lighting the candle and leading a prayer each week. This can be a beautiful way to gather together and focus on the meaning of the advent season. Another approach is to use the advent wreath as a centerpiece on your dining table and light the candles each evening during dinner time. To help you get started on your advent wreath, we have included a coloring page of an advent wreath with a Christ candle. If you have a fifth white candle for the Christ candle, place it in the center of the wreath. Use floral wire or a hot glue gun to secure the candles to the wreath. Step 4: Light the candles On the first Sunday of advent, light the first purple candle and say a prayer of hope. On the second Sunday, light both the first purple candle and the second purple candle and say a prayer of peace. On the third Sunday, light the first two purple candles and the pink candle and say a prayer of joy. On the fourth Sunday, light all three purple candles and say a prayer of love. On Christmas Day, light the white Christ candle and celebrate the birth of our Lord.
