What’s good, y’all! Today we gonna talk about Georgia, the Peach State! Now, I know y’all hear a lotta stuff about Georgia, like Atlanta, the home of trap music, and Savannah, the beautiful coastal city. But today, we gonna talk about the political map of Georgia, something that’s really important but don’t get much attention.
Political Map of Georgia
So, as y’all can see from the map above, Georgia got a lotta counties, man! 159 counties to be exact. And that’s just crazy, why they gotta divide the state like that? But anyway, let’s focus on the important stuff.
First thing y’all need to know is that Georgia is a red state. Yeah, I know, it’s crazy to think that a state with Atlanta, a city known for its progressive vibes, would be conservative. But that’s just how it is. Republicans been winning the presidential elections in Georgia since 1996.
But don’t get it twisted, there’s a lotta blue in Georgia too. Cities like Atlanta, Savannah, Macon, and Augusta been holding it down for the Democrats. It’s just that the rural parts of the state overpower the urban areas when it comes to voting.
What the Map Tells Us
Now, if y’all look closely at the map, you’ll see that Georgia got a lotta highways, interstates, and state routes. That’s because Georgia is a major transportation hub for the South. We got Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest airport in the world, and the Port of Savannah, one of the busiest ports in the country.
Another thing that stands out on the map is where the counties with majority Black population are located. Y’all see that concentration of Black folks in the south part of the state? Yeah, that’s where a lotta the racism and oppression happen. That’s where the KKK originated, that’s where Confederate flags still fly, and that’s where the voter suppression is the most rampant.
But, as always, Black folks been resilient and fighting back. Y’all remember when Stacey Abrams ran for governor in 2018? She was cheated outta that election, but she still been doing work in Georgia to make sure that our voices are heard. And we gotta give props to Black voters too, cause they been turning up for the elections and making a difference.
Conclusion
So, that’s the political map of Georgia, y’all. It tells us a lotta things about the state, both good and bad. But the most important thing it tells us is that we gotta keep fighting for our rights and our representation in politics. We can’t let the system silence us or marginalize us. We gotta use our power and our voices to make a difference.
Alright, that’s it for today, y’all. Stay woke, stay safe, and stay blessed.
